Interesting news that have just launched different social networks

25/08/2020

Over the past few weeks Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and Twitter have introduced new utilities that can be very appealing to businesses. With this article we intend to make a collection and share some practical tips.

One of these developments, and that has a lot to do with the circumstances we live in the pandemic, is that Facebook will allow you to charge for online events. This way the owners of any business page can create an event, set its price, promote it, charge and organize everything in one place and with the security provided by Facebook. With social distancing still in place, many companies and content creators are moving their events and services to a digital environment to connect with their customers and find potential. Unable to hold face-to-face meetings and encounters, people are betting on live videos and interactive experiences. In June, live broadcasts of Facebook pages doubled compared to the same time last year, which is largely attributed to broadcasts made from March onwards. Facebook is also testing paid events with Messenger Rooms to make meetings more personal and interactive. From edeon we are waiting for these news to be able to offer them to the agency's clients.

On the other hand, Instagram has released Reel , a feature to create 15-second videos and several clips with audio, effects and new creative tools . This is a tool with which the Facebook platform wants to compete with TikTok , a short video social network that has seen its popularity grow exponentially during confinement.

In fact, TikTok has announced the creation of a fund for European creators that will have 60 million euros. According to a company statement, this initiative has been designed to help the most ambitious creators foster a lifestyle through original video content. The fund will start with 60 million euros during the first year and will increase to a total of at least 255 million euros over a period of three years, offering talented people the opportunity to turn their creativity into a stimulating competition where they can interact with thousands of European creators.

Content creators who wish can now apply for funding through the TikTok Creators Fund in Europe. To be eligible, users must be at least 18 years old, have a community of over 10,000 followers, have more than 10,000 views in the last 30 days, and post original content in accordance with TikTok Community Rules . All eligible creators can apply for the Creators Fund from the app and will receive regular monthly fees, depending on the content they share.

Twitter has not wanted to be left behind and has focused its news on new settings to give users more control over the conversations that start. Therefore, from now on, everyone will be able to use these settings so that unwanted responses do not interfere with meaningful conversations. Before posting a tweet, the user chooses who can reply with three options: Everyone (standard Twitter, and default settings), Only the people you follow, or Only the people you mention in the tweet.

Over the past few weeks, Pinterest has announced new updates to make the platform even more inclusive, along with ideas from its latest Global Beauty Report. First, skin tone ranges (the Pinterest filter for inclusive beauty results) are now available in more countries, including the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The feature has also been updated so that users can easily filter results related to skin tone beauty searches directly from the search results page. In addition, the quality of the technology has also improved and quadrupled the number of beauty and fashion pins in which a skin tone can be identified. Pinterest’s skin tone filter is now 3 times more likely to detect multiple skin tone ranges among the best search results.

Pinterest has also taken a leap forward with the virtual tool Try On , which is expanding to include more than 10,000 shades of lipstick. Unlike other augmented reality technologies, Try On does not soften the skin or have image alteration effects that make users look less like themselves: it is a “real reality” (not augmented). Try On is currently available in the US and will be released in the UK in the coming months.

As you can see, social media continues to evolve and propose improvements that allow it to expand communities and increase interactions with users. At edeon we like to keep up to date with all the news but we are realistic and only recommend applying them when customers and their target audiences are ready.
